First National Day Reception of Luxembourg in Kigali

More than 160 guests and partners from Rwandan authorities, private sector, civil society, academia as well as the diplomatic corps attended the National Day Reception hosted at the Residence of Luxembourg in Kigali.

The reception marked a special occasion on many accounts: the first National Day reception organised by the newly established Embassy of Luxembourg in Kigali, in a year that marks the 25th anniversary of the accession to the throne of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg.

In her welcome speech, the Ambassador of Luxembourg, Ms. Jeanne Crauser, thanked all Luxembourgers – as well as friends of Luxembourg – who have dedicated many years of their professional and personal lives to accompanying Rwanda on its journey of recovery, transformation, and growth.

The Embassy of Luxembourg was particularly honoured by the presence of the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Olivier Nduhungirehe, who highlighted the strong relationship between Rwanda and Luxembourg and looked forward to strengthening cooperation in innovative and green finance, digital transformation, skills development as well as climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability.

Guests were delighted to taste Luxembourgish specialties like ‘Gromperekichelcher’, ‘Riesling Paschtéit’, ‘Mettwursch’ (sausage) as well as well-known deserts such as the ‘Bamkuch’. Luxembourgish wines & spirits (Drëpp) were not to be missed either!

A special thanks to our official sponsors LUNEX, Skol, IM Bank and Onomo Hotel, for their generous contributions.
